now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19
What words of promise Isaiah speaks to us today! What words of hope! I like how today's author, Rev. Robin Brown, describes life as "always under construction." Our lives can feel and look like a work zone. Some part is being torn up. Some part is dusty and dirty. Some part is being rebuilt. Some part needs to be updated. Some part is broken. Some part is nearly completed. And in the midst of it all, God is at work. The devotion describes how one church wrote their favorite Bible verses on a new concrete slab that was awaiting carpeting. What probably was a frustration for many, as they waited for the carpet and the chance to finish the new space, was transformed into words of hope and promise. And when completed, all who walked on that space would be walking on the promises of God. Beautiful! What part of your life is "under construction" right now? What is being renewed? Are there areas that need an update? Are there areas that have just been completed, for which to give thanks and praise? As long as God gives us life, we are always being made new, always under construction, always being transformed through the power and presence of God. May God be with us and may we trust God's presence as God goes to work on our lives today.
I thought that Rev. Brown's devotion was perfect...until I read your elaboration and challenge, Pastor. You've given me some very specific things to think about while my process of "construction" and transformation continues
